Project Overview:
This animated explainer video was created to train new employees on how our “Member Quote” process works. The project aimed to replace an old static presentation with a dynamic, step-by-step visual tutorial that improves knowledge retention and reduces onboarding time.
The video was designed to be implemented into eLearning modules and live training, giving instructors and learners a consistent, branded learning asset.
My Role:
Script Development: Translated complex insurance verbiage and technical jargon into a simplified narrative, using real workflow examples and clear language.
UI Animation and Screen Simulation: Recreated the internal software tools UI interface in Adobe After Effects, animating tool interactions to guide learners through each feature without needing a live environment.
Storyboarding: Developed detailed storyboards to map out the visual narrative and ensure cohesive storytelling.
Visual Design: Ensured visual alignment with USAA’s brand, incorporating typography, color palettes, Brand assets, and iconography that support accessibility and clarity.
Animation, Video Editing & Sound Design: Used Adobe After Effects to create dynamic animations and Premiere Pro to layer narration, UI sounds, and subtle background music for engagement and pacing.
Distribution and Support Materials: Integrated the video into an Articulate Rise course and created a downloadable quick-reference PDF for learner reinforcement.
Tools and Technologies:
Adobe After Effects: Create motion graphics and animations.
Adobe Premiere Pro: Video editing and sound integration.
Adobe Illustrator: Graphic design and editing assets to align with the brand.
USAA Branded Assets: Incorporated existing design elements to maintain brand consistency.
Articulate Rise: Course Embedding.
Workday Learning: For distribution and tracking.
Outcome:
The Member Quote animation significantly improved employee understanding of the quoting process by breaking down each step into a clear, visual sequence. By showing how quotes are generated, reviewed, and communicated to members, the video helped demystify a critical—but often misunderstood—process within the insurance pipeline.
New hires reported feeling more confident in their ability to support members accurately and efficiently. Post-training feedback highlighted that the video “made a complex process feel simple and approachable,” leading to smoother onboarding experiences and more consistent application of quoting procedures across teams.
This asset is now used enterprise-wide as a foundational training piece in both eLearning modules and instructor-led sessions.
